An Ode to Chariot

Yesterday, my National Student Advertising Competition team's dreams were crushed by three "judges" when we placed 6th at our Regional competition in St. Paul. Out of 10 teams. The presentation: flawless. The ideas: superb. The "problem:" we were "too ambitious."

It doesn't matter that we had the best research, executions, designs... we lost to a group who used the Running Man. *shudder*

But regardless of how the year ended, I cannot say enough about the talent of our NSAC team. Our presenters, Mike, Eric, Libby, Carina and Lindsay worked their tails off and wowed the crowds with their words, poise, and Eric's tattooed leg. Their dedication to the team never waivered and I cannot thank them enough for all of the effort they put into this.

Also, to all of the non-presenters: you were all amazing. Chariot could not have done so well without you, and I am proud to have worked with you, drank with you, cried with you.

And finally, Howard: we couldn't have done it without you. Your dedication has been nothing short of miraculous. We cannot thank you enough for all of the time you spent with us, grueling over this campaign.

I love you guys!

Left, Left, Left, Right, Left!

I've already professed my love for Nike's "My Better is Better than Your Better" campaign, but now I must give some love to Adidas' new stuff. Not only does it give the semi-cheesey, but fuzzy on the inside feeling that we all can get along, from East coast to West coast, but it's definitely something that Venice Beach-goers will remember:

I wouldn't want a pair of either of the shoes, (I guess I'm not as fashionable as some) but this makes me like the brand more. FO' SHO!

:)

May the shoe wars continue...

GIANT BABY TAKES OVER CITY, LEAVING BEHIND SPARKLE TRAIL

Citizens were astonished when a baby, reportedly as large as a building, crawled over
downtown, crushing everything in its path.

"It was horrible, he was picking up cars and smashing them, as if they were just matchbox cars. I couldn't believe it," said Sue Nigorski, a scared witness.

Not only did it take 5 hours for local police to capture the rampant baby, but the cleanup is still going on. Apparently, the giant is of the species yaybius clitterificus, also known as "yaybie" or more colloquially, "sparkle baby," so it left a trail of glitter along its violent path.

"What a mess. You know when your girlfriend puts on glitter to go out, and you find glitter on your face, all over your house, EVERYWHERE, for like 2 weeks? It never goes away! Now imagine if your girlfriend was the size of a building and she was covered in the stuff. That's what we're dealing with," said Sergeant Matthew Killarney.

Cleanup crews are working 24/7 trying to right the wrongs of this situation, but they would like to remind the public of how preventable this is. The mammoth of a mother who bore this child could have spared the town of this mess if she hadn't used Clitter while pregnant.

Tap into the Blogosphere of YAYBIA!

For those of you who are behind on the times and haven't visited www.yaybia.com yet, you are missing out on the most fantastical blog.

EVER.

Not only are the contributors advertising geniuses, but they are pretty hilarious as well.

If my words have yet to move you to the blog, here is a Top 10 List of why everyone in the world should be shouting their love for yaybia on rooftops:

10. The name. I mean- who doesn't love things that are inspired by Clitter? (HELLO -- SPARKLE BABIES!)

9. The Liberator. Yes, that's Libby Issendorf, one of our media gurus. Want to learn about the hip new ad placements that no one else knows about? The Liberator knows. Guaranteed.

8. Erin Fizzbitch Lamberty, a crafty creative/media specialist who knows everything. Period. Especially mobile.

7. Carina Enbody -- she's kind of a big deal. Strike kind of.

6. Our German sensation, Monika Frech. Copywriting? No problem. Copywriting in two languages? Easy.

5. Amanda the Chic and Trendy Isaacson. Every blog needs a sharp-tongued, opinionated voice, and Amanda brings it. (3 snaps and a head bob!)

4. ME?

3. We know Howard Liszt. And his spies have spies.

2. We can turn your labia into a yaybia?

1. Because if you don't, we'll kick you in the face with our ENERGY LEGS!

ENJOY!

Sexytime.

I'm watching CNN right now, mostly because basic cable TV is trash at 9:00... and I am struck, once again, by Anderson Cooper's beauty. Sure, he's not an advertisement... but he definitely still hits my sweet spot. (Was that too much?)

But really... not only is he a gorgeous speciMAN, but he has a pretty sweet name to boot.

ANDERSON COOPER... I WANT TO HAVE 400 SPARKLE BABIES WITH YOU!

To Virgle... and Beyond!

Google Reader keeps me updated with this crazy world (thanks Erin and Libby), and now, Google co-founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin, along with the fucking madman Richard Branson (Virgin) are begging us to get involved with the goings on that are out of this world. Mars in particular.

For all those worrying about global warming and the future of our world... worry no more. You can become a Virgle Pioneer simply by posting a 30 second reply to this YouTube video:

But what is Virgle? And what is a Virgle pioneer? And now that I'm asking, WHY THE FUCK WOULD I WANT TO BE ONE?

"Some people are calling Virgle an 'interplanetary Noah's Ark,'" said Virgin Group President and Founder Sir Richard Branson, who conceived the new venture. "I'm one of them. It's a potentially remarkable business, but more than that, it's a glorious adventure. For me, Virgle evokes the spirit of explorers such as Christopher Columbus and Marco Polo, who set sail looking for the New World. I do hope we'll be a bit more efficient about actually finding it, though."

So, Virgle will be a Martian colony of which humans would actually inhabitate! Yes, you can join the likes of E.T. and Marvin as a Virgle Pioneer... you personally will be one of the first to go and explore outerspace to plan the future city of Virgle.

Apparently, screwing up one planet is not enough for the human race... we have to ruin Mars as well. Where next? I call dibs on Uranus. (Okay... I just really wanted to claim your anus.)

Who knows... maybe this is all one big April Fools joke... but with Richard Branson, one can never quite know. But, if he is being serious, I have a suggestion that would make this world 80 times better:

Why don't we just ship Branson off to Virgle so we can regain our sanity?
