iLove Apple

It's no secret... Apple ads always seem to be fantastic. But, recently, what has really impressed me the most are their iTunes/iPod commercials. Who would have thought that the silhouette theme would be so successful for so long? And now, I'm absolutely thrilled with their Coldplay commercial:

Not only is the art direction gorgeous, but duh- it features Coldplay (LOVE, LOVE, LOVE)! The colors take me back to their concert that I went to my freshmen year of college, screaming my lungs out for them to sing "The Scientist." (They did it... I'm sure it was because I requested it from the nose bleeds.) They had the most fabulous display of lights I ever saw. (Especially during "Yellow," but I digress...)

This Coldplay ad ties in well with the geometrical look of the new iPod commercial, but shows a little more of the band than the gradient-filled silhouettes. I DO love both of the new ads though. I was ecstatic when I saw the Ting Tings ad. Professor John Eighmey calls it "iPod for Spring":

Oh my gersh I love iPod commercials. They always have great new music on them (apparently all the cool new stuff is coming from England!) Keep up the good work, and as Eighmey always says, "When in doubt... ROCK IT OUT!"

An Ode to Poor Decisions...

I think we can all relate to this ad for Amp... who hasn't shamefully drudged through campus one morning after a looooong night? Amp has caught on to this grand insight among young adults in this musical spot called "I Will Not be Ashamed."

Now, I won't be ashamed as I prance home in a toga with my hair all a-mess and looking like a hot tranny mess. THANK YOU AMP!

When I grow up...

I already put this on the UMN One Club blog, but it makes me laugh everytime. I thought you all would enjoy:

I'm gonna go wear black clothes, smoke a lot of dope, and pout when I don't get my way now. AD's represent!

Kraak & Smaak

Kraak & Smaak's music video for "Squeeze Me" is awesome. That's all I really need to say... take a look:

Inspiration? I think so.

Thanks for sharing this with me Erin.

An Ode to Chariot

Yesterday, my National Student Advertising Competition team's dreams were crushed by three "judges" when we placed 6th at our Regional competition in St. Paul. Out of 10 teams. The presentation: flawless. The ideas: superb. The "problem:" we were "too ambitious."

It doesn't matter that we had the best research, executions, designs... we lost to a group who used the Running Man. *shudder*

But regardless of how the year ended, I cannot say enough about the talent of our NSAC team. Our presenters, Mike, Eric, Libby, Carina and Lindsay worked their tails off and wowed the crowds with their words, poise, and Eric's tattooed leg. Their dedication to the team never waivered and I cannot thank them enough for all of the effort they put into this.

Also, to all of the non-presenters: you were all amazing. Chariot could not have done so well without you, and I am proud to have worked with you, drank with you, cried with you.

And finally, Howard: we couldn't have done it without you. Your dedication has been nothing short of miraculous. We cannot thank you enough for all of the time you spent with us, grueling over this campaign.

I love you guys!

BEAR BLASTING!

Left, Left, Left, Right, Left!

I've already professed my love for Nike's "My Better is Better than Your Better" campaign, but now I must give some love to Adidas' new stuff. Not only does it give the semi-cheesey, but fuzzy on the inside feeling that we all can get along, from East coast to West coast, but it's definitely something that Venice Beach-goers will remember:

I wouldn't want a pair of either of the shoes, (I guess I'm not as fashionable as some) but this makes me like the brand more. FO' SHO!

:)

May the shoe wars continue...
